Tokonameyaki Matsuri
Overview

Tokoname is one of the leading traditional pottery production areas in Japan. The pottery made here is called TOKONAMEYAKI.
Every year in October many Tokoname craftsmen, artists, galleries and shops come together to hold a pottery festival where they exhibit and sell their wares.
This festival is called the TOKONMAMEYAKI MATSURI.

Tokonameyaki Matsuri Date, Time and Place

October 7 and 8, 2023

This year's TOKONMAMEYAKI MATSURI will be held for two days on October 7th (Saturday) and October 8th (Sunday) at three locations (A, B, and C) in Tokoname City.

Venue A (Main venue)

Saturday, 7th
9:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m.

Sunday, 8th
9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
*Fireworks will be launched from 6:00 p.m.

Venue A Map

In Japan boat racing is one form of government-sanctioned public gambling and there is a large boat racing pavilion in Tokoname City. This venue is used for the festival because it allows for effective use of both indoor and outdoor spaces. Boat races will not be held during the two days of the Tokoname Ceramic Festival.
Approximately 100 people, including Tokoname ceramic manufacturers, craftsmen and writers will have stalls at Venue A, selling a variety of wares.
A fireworks display will be held from 6pm on Saturday the 7th and can be viewed in and around Venue A. Admission to each venue is free.
*If the weather is bad on the 7th, the fireworks display will be postponed to the 8th.

The YAKIMONO SANPO ROAD is a popular tourist destination in an area where the townscape that flourished with the ceramics industry still remains.
This area is home to pottery manufacturers, artist studios, galleries, shops and cafes so you can enjoy sightseeing and shopping while taking in the historic sites.

The Cera Mall is a shopping mall with many shops selling Tokoname ceramics. Here you can see many works by artists and craftsmen in one place so you will have an excellent opportunity to find the pottery you want. The selection of Tokoname kyusu (Japanese style teapots) and bonsai pots is unique.

From there, it takes about 8 minutes to walk there.
If you take the free shuttle bus, it takes about 5 minutes.

Too far to walk, use the free shuttle bus.
